The Jaguar E-Type is the model that succeeded the XK 150. When it was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show on March 16, 1961, it created one of the most sensational moments in the history of post-war automobiles worldwide, causing an effect comparable to a bombshell. It was a shock not only for the public and journalists, but also for other manufacturers. Every possible superlative was used to praise the beauty, originality, elegance and modernity of this remarkable car. It was at the London Motor Show in October 1964 that the new 4.2-litre engine was introduced. The main changes appeared inside the car, where the original bucket seats were replaced by ribbed seats with adjustable backrests. The aluminum center console was also replaced with a leather-trimmed one. Externally, there was virtually nothing to distinguish a 3.8-litre model from a 4.2-litre version, except for the “4.2 litre” badge located on the rear hatch.
This Jaguar E-Type underwent a complete restoration a few years ago in the Netherlands. On that occasion, the mechanical components, bodywork, and numerous other parts were refurbished or renewed with great care, while respecting the authenticity of the model. Since this restoration, the car has covered very few miles, which has allowed it to remain in excellent overall condition. Having arrived in our workshops last spring, it benefited from a significant refresh along with a thorough inspection of all its mechanical, cosmetic, and functional elements. Every aspect was carefully checked in order to ensure optimal reliability and a driving experience worthy of this iconic model.
Several operations were carried out. The front anti-roll bar was replaced to improve road holding and handling precision. The windshield chrome trim as well as the headlight surrounds were replaced, restoring the full brilliance of the car’s iconic lines. The enamel exhaust manifolds were also replaced and a brand-new complete exhaust system was installed, contributing both to performance and to the characteristic sound of the Jaguar six-cylinder engine. The interior and exterior mirrors were replaced to ensure excellent presentation and improved usability. The bodywork also benefited from a complete polish and buffing process, enhancing the elegance of the curves and the depth of the paintwork.
This Jaguar E-Type is also equipped with several desirable upgrades that make it more pleasant and reliable for modern use. It sits on 6-inch wide wheels which enhance both stability and the overall stance of the car. Braking is handled by four-piston front calipers, providing improved stopping power. The car is also fitted with a more powerful cooling system and electronic ignition, both of which increase reliability and ease of use in everyday driving. Today, this Jaguar E-Type presents beautifully and is ready to be enjoyed immediately. No expenses are required, allowing its future owner to fully enjoy this automotive icon, whether for scenic drives, historic rallies, or simply the pleasure of driving one of the most elegant sports cars ever produced. The car is naturally accompanied by its Jaguar Heritage Certificate, confirming its authenticity and history.
