Jaguar C-Type

Introduced in 1951, the Jaguar Type C, with “C” standing for “Competition”, is one of the most iconic racing cars in the history of British motoring. Developed from the Jaguar XK120, it features an ultra-light tubular chassis and an aluminium body with particularly aerodynamic lines. Beneath its long bonnet sits the legendary 3.4-litre XK inline six-cylinder engine, renowned for its reliability and performance. From its very first appearance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1951, the Type C achieved an outstanding victory, before repeating this success in 1953. This second triumph went down in history thanks to the use of the first successfully raced disc brakes at the legendary endurance event, an innovation that would permanently transform the automotive industry. With only 53 examples produced, the Jaguar Type C is today considered one of the rarest, most prestigious and most sought-after competition cars among collectors worldwide.
We are delighted to offer for sale this Jaguar Type C registered in France, a faithful recreation of one of the greatest legends of British motorsport. The registration document indicates a registration date of 1965 as well as the mention “C Replique”, an important detail particularly appreciated by historic car enthusiasts. Featuring a polyester body, this Jaguar presents an attractive overall appearance while preserving the sporty and elegant spirit of the original Type C. It is fitted with a Jaguar 4.2-litre engine paired with a manual gearbox, providing an ideal driving experience for spirited road outings. A true icon of 1950s racing circuits, the Type C embodies the legacy of Jaguar’s great victories at Le Mans. This example will be sold with a fully rebuilt engine by Atelier des Coteaux, ensuring quality and peace of mind for its future owner. Accompanied by an extensive maintenance file documenting its history and servicing, this Jaguar Type C represents a rare opportunity to enter the world of historic competition cars. Easily eligible for registration, it will allow its owner to participate in automotive events, rallies and sporting drives while enjoying the pleasure of driving a true legend.
